In celebration of the Saints’ Superbowl win last night, a little “Louisiana Bayou” by Dave Matthews Band:
Welcome to DMBStuff.com, the brainchild of Becky Kopprasch, a longtime Dave Matthews Band Fan. I have held ownership of the domain name DMBStuff.com for a long time and never did anything with it. I post so often about DMB on my website Basically Becky that I thought it was time to branch out and make an entire site dedicated to the band. I have been to over 35 DMB shows since 1998. The band’s music just makes me happy and they are truly an inspiration to me.
While I work on a new site design, I will be uploading all of my old Dave Matthews Band posts from Basically Becky. I will also be adding new posts to both sites, until more people know about this one.
Expect DMB videos, pictures and news. Basically…all DMB all the time.
If you are going to buy any merchandise from the DMB Store soon, make sure to do it in the next 24 hours and all proceeds go to the Bama Works Haiti Relief Fund. From the Dave Matthews Band official website:

It’s followed by a 2004 version of “Cry Freedom” featuring a powerful performance from LeRoi Moore. Three rousing songs captured on the band’s 2009 summer tour – “Out Of My Hands,” “Lying In The Hands Of God” and “Dive In” are also included.
THANKS: We’d like to extend an enormous thanks to Adam Larson with Adam+Company who generously donated the artwork for the shirt and EP as well as the Ants Marching staff for helping us select the versions of the tracks. Thanks to Musictoday for providing the download service for the cause.

Dave Matthews & Neil Young performed “Alone & Forsaken” at the Hope for Haiti benefit. This little-known Hank Williams song was written by the country legend during the first half of last century. If you haven’t donated anything, please do. Every little bit helps.
In the wake of the devastation in Haiti, Dave Matthews Band has partnered with Music For Relief to help. From the DMB official website:
American Rejects, Enrique Iglesias, Hoobastank, Kenna, Lupe Fiasco, Peter Gabriel and Slash for DOWNLOAD TO DONATE FOR HAITI, a recovery effort to aid the nation of Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating January 12th earthquake. Millions of Haitians are in need of food, water, medical attention, clothing and shelter just to make it through the days ahead.
Working with Music For Relief, a non-profit founded by Linkin Park following the 2004 Asian tsunamis, each of the artists have graciously donated never-before-released music to help raise funds and promote awareness of the recovery efforts. Dave Matthews Band’s Typical Situation from 07.05.1997 Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA has been selected for the charitable release. DOWNLOAD TO DONATE FOR HAITI provides fans with the opportunity to download a collection of exclusive songs by their favorite artists and then donate funds on a purely voluntary basis. Each download is a donation. Fans can download the 9 unreleased songs at musicforrelief.org and via the websites of each participating artist. DMB encourages you to donate what you can. Every donation will help and 100% of funds received will go directly to the Haiti efforts.
Funds raised through the program will support the United Nation’s rapid disaster response efforts through the UN Foundation, the long-term rebuilding of sustainable homes with Habitat for Humanity, and Dave Matthews Band’s Bama Works, Haitian relief efforts. DMB is developing a full-scale plan for long-term assistance to Haiti – please stay tuned for more information. DOWNLOAD. LISTEN. DONATE. SPREAD THE WORD. BRING HOPE.

I just got home from Larger Than Life in 3D featuring Dave Matthews Band. Since it was announced, I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of the movie, which will only be out until December 17th. It is playing in 500 theaters across the country, so I thought for sure it would be crowded. Since it was opening night, I purchased my ticket in advance and met some friends at the theater. I cracked up when I walked in, 5 minutes before the movie started and there were about 10 people in a HUGE theater.
Gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello performed first at All Points West Music & Arts Festival in New Jersey. I had never heard of them, but they were quite entertaining. Next up were Ben Harper and Relentless7 with a performance at the Mile High Music Festival in Denver. I was a huge Ben Harper fan when Welcome to the Cruel World first came out. I haven’t listened to the new band’s music, and hoped to hear “Burn One Down” or “Forever”, but what they played was still great.
Dave Matthews Band, filmed at the 2009 Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas were next. I was a little disappointed in that there was no backstage footage as there was with Ben Harper. Granted, it was only 30 seconds, but I would have enjoyed watching Dave put headphones in his ears more than Ben. DMB played the following setlist:
You Might Die Trying
Funny The Way It Is
Seven
So Damn Lucky
Shake Me Like a Monkey
Why I Am
Burning Down the House
So Much To Say
Ants Marching
While the movie was great, I wish the people in the theater were a little more into it. I think part of the fun at a DMB show is the energy of the crowd, and the audience at the AMC Stony Brook theater was lacking enthusiasm. That didn’t stop my friends and I from clapping and singing along with every song. Nothing will ever beat seeing DMB live, but if you are a die-hard Dave Matthews fan, like myself, it is a must-see. And don’t forget…you only have till next Thursday to see it. According to InConcert3D, it will never be released on DVD or on TV.
The Grammy Awards nominees have been announced and Dave Matthews Band made the cut…twice! According to the DMB official website:
We are thrilled to announce that Dave Matthews Band’s Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King received Grammy nominations this evening for Best Rock Album and Album of the Year! The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled to air live from Los Angeles on CBS on January 31, 2010.
Here are the lists of fellow nominees in both awards:
Album Of The Year
I Am…Sasha Fierce – Beyonce
The E.N.D. – Black Eyed Peas
The Fame – Lady Gaga
Fearless – Taylor Swift
Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King – Dave Matthews Band
Best Rock Album
Black Ice – AC/DC
Live From Madison Square Garden – Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood
21st Century Breakdown – Green Day
Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King – Dave Matthews Band
No Line On The Horizon – U2
As much as I love Lady Gaga, if she wins the Album of the Year over DMB, I might just not like her anymore. It just wouldn’t be right. Personally, I think after last year’s snub of LeRoi in the tribute film, that the Grammy’s owe it to DMB to award them for the album they made FOR Roi. Just sayin.
You can follow The Grammys on Twitter here, where they have daily contests for prizes.

MusiCares named Neil Young as their 2010 Person of the Year and will be holding a tribute in January to the singer. According to the DMB official website:
On January 29, 2010, Dave Matthews will join a host of talented artists including Jackson Browne, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, K.D. Lang, John Mellencamp, Ozomatli, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wilco and others who will come together for a MusiCares benefit to honor Neil Young as MusiCares® 2010 Person of the Year. Neil Young will be honored at a special event in Los Angeles which will celebrate his exceptional artistic achievements and philanthropic work. Proceeds from the annual MusiCares Person of the Year tribute — now in its 20th year — provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures that members of the music community have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need. For more information on the work of MusiCares and the 20th Anniversary Tribute Benefit, visit MusiCares.com.
It is events like these that make me wish I lived in L.A. *sigh* Hopefully it will be televised.

When I first heard about this, I thought, it couldn’t be true. They make concert movies for Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and Michael Jackson. Not Dave Matthews Band. But it’s real! And includes Ben Harper, who I love too!! Check out the trailer:
From the DMB official website:
This December, the first in a series of 3D concert events will debut with the digital cinema 3D release of “LARGER THAN LIFE…IN 3D” featuring Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper and Relentless7 and Gogol Bordello. The Larger Than Life concert event featuring DMB will screen nationwide, one week only December 11-17th. Shot in Digital 3D, the format essentially brings viewers onstage, giving them a stunning 360? view of each live performance. Filmed by inconcert3d at critically acclaimed music festivals this summer, the performances include DMB at the 2009 Austin City Limits Music Festival, Ben Harper and Relentless7 at the Mile High Music Festival in Denver, and Gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello at All Points West Music & Arts Festival in New Jersey.
I’ve already demanded it for Long Island. It says it is playing near me, but when I went to the movie site, it wasn’t showing up. It might be too early. Stay tuned for a review!
